Studio

CZA Cino Zucchi Architetti, one of the leading European studios in the fields of architecture, landscape and urban design, is constantly searching new spatial solutions in the diverse and layered character of contemporary human territories.

Mission. Our goal is to combine innovation and research with a professional completeness, capable of responding to complex programs at any scale employing the articulated expertise and a well-established net of consultants.

Expertise. The studio has designed and realised many commercial, public, industrial and residential buildings, public spaces, renewal plans and master plans for agricultural, industrial and historical areas; it has participated to many national and international competitions and it is active in the field of interior and exhibition design.

Urban Projects. The urban design projects include the master plans for Bergamo Porta Sud, Keski Pasila
in Helsinki, Herten Ewald Coal mines and Münich in Germany, the proposals for areas in Lugano, Andermatt and Geneva in Switzerland, Vienna and Salzburg in Austria, Deventer, Utrecht and Groningen in the Netherlands, Rennes, Perpignan and Paris in France, Tirana in Albania and St. Petersburg and Moscow in Russia.

Projects. Architectural projects include the Cavallerizza Reale in Turin, Salewa Headquarters in Bozen, the Lavazza Headquarters and the National Automobile Museum in Turin as well as residential complexes in Milan, Parma, Ancona, Ravenna, Laveno, Bologna. Besides commercial buildings in Bordeaux and Nice. Landscape design projects include, a public park in S. Donà and in Gratosoglio, Cascina Merlata public spaces and the entrance of the Vedeggio-Cassarate tunnel in Lugano.

Grafting. CZA’s transformation of the former industrial areas of the ex Junghans in Venice and the ex Alfa Romeo Portello in Milan into successful mixed-use environments through the integration of urban design, open space design and architecture are considered among the best European examples of their kind,
and have been widely published worldwide in magazines and books
and awarded several prizes.

A client once said to CZA: “If your team has managed to transform such a run-down part of Venice into such a successful new living quarter, you are able to solve any other task”. We believe that ‘a smooth sea never made a good sailor’, and working in Europe’s most delicate and layered environments gave us the capacity to tackle and solve the complex interrelated layers of contemporary design themes.

Adaptability. We consider each new project a unique challenge that has to find its own character through an intense discussion with the client and a deep perception of the location, and we think design is taking the full responsibility for the metamorphosis of today’s human and natural environments.
