Bergamo Porta Sud Masterplan
The Bergamo Porta Sud masterplan is an urban transformation project that connects two parts of the city. It centers around the new intermodal hub of the new Bergamo station, with CZA Cino Zucchi Architetti acting as the architectural consultant.
The project aims to create new collective living environments that combine urban intensity with environmental quality, exploiting the potential of new mobility and enhancing public space, greenery and historical places.
The project includes several reform elements, starting with the station itself. The new transportation terminal serves as an urban loggia that, like a large portico, connects the different means of transportation. On the other hand, a bridge over the tracks creates an urban pathway supported by the station and commerce; furthermore, two land bridges connect north and south across green paths.
In addition, the masterplan includes a series of panoramic viewpoints overlooking Città Alta and residential developments of high environmental quality. Bergamo Porta Sud master plan’ ultimate goal is to create a more sustainable, connected and livable city for the local community.
