“Cavaliere Fantasma” exhibition by Robert Deutsch at CZA Cino Zucchi Architetti studio

From April 19th, CZA Cino Zucchi Architetti studio will host Cavaliere Fantasma exhibition by the German artist and illustrator Robert Deutsch.

CZA, always open to cross-contaminations, dedicates a wall of its atelier in Via Revere 8 – a sort of “project wall” – to artists who, out of harmony or admiration, are part of the studio’s work every day.

“Cavaliere Fantasma” exhibition by Robert Deutsch at CZA Cino Zucchi Architetti studio

Combining pop imagery and hyper-coloured modern surrealism, Robert Deutsch creates ambiguous universes inhabited by unusual and eccentric characters questioning the darker aspects of contemporary life. By putting together strangely shaped cars, allegorical landscapes, and hooded, smiling figures, the language of illustration and comics blends with the vibrant expressionism of the early 20th century. While sharp irony is a constant, it is also true that Deutsch’s works always retain a sense of humanity that kindly involves us in the joke.

Robert Deutsch was born in Köthen and studied art and editorial graphics in Halle. His work recalls illustration, comics, and naive German art; while merging into the European iconographic tradition – among Flemish art, French caricature tradition, a “Bosch” alike tone, and Renaissance allegories – he renews the formal code with the imagery of 20th-century popular culture.

Since 2011, his works have been exhibited in numerous solo and collective exhibitions in Europe; he collaborates as an illustrator and graphic designer with many magazines and newspapers, including Le Monde Diplomatique, Monopol, Arte, American Collectors Art Magazine, Psychologie Heute, Mitteldeutscher Rundfunk, Kuti, Strapazin, Page, Avant-Verlag, Spiegel Expedition, Brigitte Woman.

BERGAMO‘23. Visions for a present future city, environment, community

From April 12th to September 17th
Palazzo della Libertà, Bergamo

Bergamo ‘23. Visions for a present future. City, environment, community

The exhibition promoted and organized by the Comune di Bergamo and ANCE Bergamo, curated by Luca Molinari Studio, aims to tell the story of Bergamo and its territory (urban and non-urban). The thematic section “Architettura”, is a space in which twentieth-century Bergamo architectural projects dialogue with recent architecture. In such an “arena”, the past (Basilico’s stone city) and the present are linked, indicating perspectives for the future Bergamo (as city-territory). The exhibition includes the projects of Bergamo Station and the Master plan Bergamo Sud, both related to the CZA Cino Zucchi Architetti studio.

The exhibition is organized on the occasion of Bergamo and Brescia Capitale italiana della cultura 2023. The setting design is by Piovenefabi studio and the graphic design is by CamuffoLab.
