Cino Zucchi Architetti designed the redevelopment of an old silk manufacture plant in Chiampo (Veneto): “La Filanda”. The client’s goal was in one hand to preserve the original character of the Filanda and on the other, to convert the surrounding areas of the manufacture into public spaces open to citizens. The main aim is to recall the past being innovative at the same time while creating a new social aggregation area.

The project successfully responded to these requests by conceiving a refurbishment project that melt the technical-functional requirements with an open and integrated environment for the city, a new square “piazza” defined by the strong presence of green areas, public services and accompanied by a great attention on the materials’ research.
The complex hosts commercial and retail spaces, offices, and residences and well as a restaurant and a coffee place. The architectural design and the functional program define a lively and animated place where different commercial activities are set around the central “piazza”: a new public space designed to host the community.
The regeneration of “La Filanda” is thus a project that respects the context and the environment valuing the historical and territorial heritage of the area.
