Designing Saronno’s future means to accept the challenge of making it not only a place of livability, but also of memorability, while integrating in its spaces the center and the more marginal areas, which still struggle to be included such as the Matteotti district.
The former Isotta Fraschini Area is an exceptional opportunity to mend the parts of the city and an occasion to create bridges with others in a continuous dialogue with today’s world while preserving the spirit of the past.
Up to now the abandon industrial area of the former Isotta Fraschini has represented a fracture in the city, physically preventing the conjunction of the south-west sector with the historic center.
The transformation proposal aims to mend this fracture from a functional, morphological, and environmental point of view.
