E1 residential building in the former Junghans area Italy, Venice – 1999-2002		The E1 building flanks the new piazza and the new canal ditched in the south-east quadrant of the area. The front toward the piazza, resting on a long public portico, consists of a screen of stone slabs of different colours and textures topped by a prominent corniche which frames the view toward the Laguna. The simpler water side is pierced on the ground floor by portals which increase its visual permeability.
