New tourist resort QGP4
con One Works

(closed competition-winner of the Sector D)
Switzerland, Andermatt – 2007

The peculiar relationship developed over time between a mountain village and the surrounding landscape cannot today be reproduced without the risk of a nostalgic replica. To design a contemporary tourist resort means to respond to the changing lifestyles of mass leisure with a high sensibility toward the delicate environment of the Alps. In the context of a conspicuous expansion of the old town center, the winning proposal for an hotel, shops and houses interprets the different site conditions accentuating the different “grains” of the built fabric as expressed in the variety and orientation of the roof silhouettes.
